For me, I used to take anti-depressants and my doctor advised me try exercising too.. The aha moment I found out for my experience was.. Exercise is the best anti-depressants! I started walks and jogs.. I became happier.. and my body became healthier.. My doctor later took away my need to use anti-depressants..

Well, one week is too short a time to know if the prescribed antidepressant is effective or not. Usually it takes about 2-4 weeks to appreciate it's efficacy. You should contact your doctor again to understand more about medications. There are several other treatment options such as psychological therapy and TMS.

Are psychological therapies more effective than medications?

No. However, research evidence suggests that psychological therapies can be as effective as antidepressants for milder forms of illnesses. The best results are achieved with combination of medications and therapies.
