As a person journey along on his or her path to recovery, it is good to be individually brilliant and to have strong core competencies in knowing how to help themselves.

This short video shows us the importance of knowing when to work together as a team and how to tap on the strengths of others. The reason being that unless you are able to work in a team and harness each other’s core competencies, you will always perform below par because there will always be situations at which you will do poorly and someone else does well.

Hence, having a good support network is vital for a person’s recovery. We need to learn how to tap on the support that others around us can provide us. As the saying goes, “No man is an island”. Our objective here is to learn how to be empowered to make independent choices while recognizing the need for a healthy social life filled with social support.

As we start identifying and engaging people in our networks, we learn about formal and informal support. Enhancing our social skills can help us acquire more social support, and also in increasing the understanding of mental wellness and social acceptance within our networks and influences. Learning to understand our personal comfort zone while respecting others at the same time, we can then start to make independent choices even under peer pressure, and build mutually supportive interdependent relationships.

Details of the online workshop on this topic and others are at the link below. We encourage you to join and benefit from these sessions.
